In fairness, all the players mentioned are pretty cool alright. What I love about Sister Rosetta is the juxtaposition of the 'lady going to church' look with the classic rock axe. A bit like Albert King in a pinstripe suit and a Flying V.

Is that the reason, 'cause otherwise I'm not sure I get it?

    Coolest - Robbie Krieger

I think technically this was a Les Paul Special? Someone else will know this better than me but Gibson made some SRT models and they were 1960 Les Paul Specials.
I also have a vague memory that Frank Marino (as he's been mentioned on here) also only used the Les Paul branded ones early in his career.
    That’s definitely a Custom not a Special she’s playing.

Well it's one of the reasons. I also think her singing and her playing style are pretty cool.

I like a bit of early AC/DC but there's nothing cool IMO about a sweaty bloke dressed as a schoolboy. A phenomenal player but Angus Young has always been about as cool as Jimmy Krankie.

A white SG (or SG style Les Paul) Custom is a pretty cool guitar by itself. Not everyone can get away with playing one but Sister Rosetta certainly can. Hendrix looked pretty cool too when he played one on the Dick Cavett Show.

What pedal was she using for her solo boost? And was it the Japanese one with the silver label or the identically-made but obviously different-sounding Taiwanese one with the black label?
What was her plectrum of choice?
    What valves did she favour?
    Is her rig true bypass?

You’ve got to go boutique and make sure you plug the aircraft grade cable into the out , then to the in and return and then you need to connect a 6 midi cable via the expression output on the input side of the multi effects but you also need to triple click and hold in master settings, which in turn needs to go to a preamp that nobody can afford then back into a booster pedal to the in ear amp. And it will sounds EXACTLY like plugging your guitar straight into the amp.

By way of variation, I nominate
    Zal Cleminson
    Mike Oldfield

For a supposedly religious observer, the young Sister Rosetta Tharpe sang some first class smut. (Tall, Skinny Papa.)

I don't think he's the coolest, but I always liked Carlos Cavazo, he's very underrated.  And that's a cool SG.

I agree actually as Keef is the coolest ever , I remember watching one of my star licks videos and enjoyed Carlos’s solo in the advert section . Ray flak was on representing country style and Louis Johnson doing some amazing bass ,plus all the usual heroes of the day
