Couple of glaring omissions in this thread  : Tony Bourge and Tony TS McPhee. It was seeing TS back in the 70s that made me want to own an SG.

Jimi still probably looked the coolest with a SG though.

I'll never forget seeing Alice Cooper on Top of the Pops doing Schools Out.
Glenn Buxton's white SG Custom with Maestro was the coolest thing I'd ever seen

Edit: It later had Bigsby B5 & other changes detailed here  https://www.guitarlobby.com/glen-buxton-guitars-and-gear/

Both Micky Jones and Deke Leonard of Man played SGs.

Deke's was white with concentric black circles. Micky's was an instrument of musical beauty

Frank Zappa is far cooler than a grown man pretending to be a little boy.

It depends whether your idea of cool is Dennis the Menace or Sid The Sexist.

Although obviously not best known for playing them, this cool bastard wore an SG effortlessly well in the early ‘70s, like he did pretty much any guitar.

    Have you read AC/DC lyrics?

Not that he wasn’t a misogynist. Dynamo Hum and songs like that are very cringey and get a skip every time, it just seems an odd thing to think is a valid point when the other band has lyrics about banging kids…

    Sorry folks youre all wrong…

If you are talking about the coolest, you mean Mr Weller…

Good call. But if Lou Reed ever played one, he wins.

No, I know next to nothing about AC/DC, music or lyrics.  It was a flippant remark based on him looking like he's basing his image on a Beano or Dandy character.

Zappa I know more about, and I've always thought him the polar opposite of cool.

So, I think the consensus is that Angus may not be the coolest…

Iain MacKaye would get my vote for favourite SG player. But wouldn't describe him as 'cool'.
