Try Justin Harrison of London vintage guitars. He might even give you some tips on how you can make it 10 times more valuable just by giving it a few 'tweaks' here and there, and by claiming it had a celebrity owner.

That'll be the same moron that can't tell the difference between a 2019 AO 60s Tele and an old AVRI 62 (which this isn't).

I've even pointed this out to said moron and he continues to mis-list it.

Yet the goons continually call themselves (specialists) - take it to ATB or Vintage n Rare in Bath.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention that valuation technique too. Just call it something else and wait for a buyer to come along that can't tell the difference.

Reverb listings is a great starting point

He's asking for a professional valuation for his insurer. That means a headed letter from someone who is considered an expert. I don't think 'they went for £X on Reverb last week' is the proof they want ;)

@Petepassion I wonder if this is my old guitar? I will pm you the serial number

    Bloody hell..,yeah, same serial number!
       Still has the Bigsby on.
I bought it from a trader, midlands area through Reverb about 3 years ago. Has the stop/tail included, but from the research I’ve done it’s probably a later one.
Apparently a previous owner had been sold it on the understanding it was one of Noel Gallagher guitars…which it wasn’t.
It’s a fantastic guitar, everyone who plays it loves it. Best guitar I’ve ever owned, and not just because of the kudos.
Another reason for getting it authenticated and valued is for when I leave this mortal shell and pass it down to my daughter.

It's almost certainly intentional out of a belief that AVRIs sell higher than AOs (for better or worse).

My first real vintage guitar and I loved it!!! The history I have on it at point of my ownership is pretty much all there in my thread. As you can see from that I bought the stop tail which I understood to be period correct but that was a while ago now and not sure if I still have evidence of where it came from… will have a look. I have also learnt a fair bit more about vintage guitars than when I owned that one.

I bought the guitar from Vintage n Rare in Bath, here is their demo of it at the time

    https://youtu.be/mozdnDzufxA

Certainly there was no Noel Gallagher link when I had it so seems a shame if someone has fabricated that to dupe a buyer however it’s an awesome guitar and if it ended up in your hands as a result then that’s great for you  =)

I think ATB are a good shout for valuation… going to be a good bit more than when I had it I can give you that much info  :)

Have you tried Gardiner Houlgate  auctioneers?, they have a specialist guitar expert for their instruments auctions.

If they get back to you. I myself have offered them guitars after they said send info and they never got back to me on multiple occasions. I even chased them and got nothing. Same with a couple of mates who were asked to send pictures, no response.

A good quote - going to pilfer that one sir. Not heard of these Harrison's before but explains the BS.

Mind you, most of Denmark Street is space cadet, magic mushroom land these days. No wonder on one shops there or gives a monkeys toss about it anymore. Shame tbf.

Anyways I went off piste. Hope OP is sorted!

And so over a year later I finally get it done :).
Made the appointment with ATB guitars and dropped it off this morning.
Left it with them for just over an hour then had the call "Your guitar is ready".
There she was, in the case, all shiny, yep they even gave it a clean. And part of me dreading the "it's been repaired" or "It's not the real thing", etc, but all good.
Pretty comprehensive service, pulled the pickups and electrics out, all dated and logged. Confirmed it's a late '62.
Lovely people and some incredible gear there.
    Highly recommended.

Excellent news. Looks a lovely guitar. Do you think Mike meant to put the date of 10th June 1962 under his signature?

And out of interest how much did they charge for the service and what valuation did they give you?

    Oh crap, I didn't notice that =).
£150 fee and I gave them £10 drink for giving it a clean.
For just over an hours work it's quite a lot, but it's needed for insurance, they have a good reputation and it is just the once.
I did leave the valuation on show...just :)

He said the valuation of £16,500 was what he'd expect to pay at a reputable London dealer if paying the asking price.
To sell privately he reckons £15,000. Cost me £9,500 just over three years ago, not that I'm ever likely to sell it...love it to bits.

What a great story.  Hopefully cheered up others (as it did me) after the horror story thread elsewhere under the Guitar heading.

I think when you look at the price the new top of the range 335's are going for, these originals are always going to be worth a fair bit more. It's a personal thing, but I love the fact it's an original and also that it has over sixty years of history.

    Lovely stuff and good turnaround.

But it's dying for a Custom Made thingy over the stoptail holes...
