Slowly looking through the performances with my supper.
So far    CHVRCHES  Excellent…….Saw them on tour just over year ago and throughly enjoyed that gig.
Warpaint       Delighted to discover they were performing. One of my favourite bands, who I've seen live 3 times before.

Next up Pale Waves. I did have ticket to see them in 2020, but obviously got cancelled.

So, I hadn’t managed to see Elton before tonight due to working at Gibraltar 7s.

I think it’s safe to say he just settled the debate on the greatest Glastonbury performance of all time.

Simply career defining - but within a definitive career.

    .Fucking hell!!
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I didn't like anything he did after 1974. Prior to that he captured lightening in a bottle.

    GNR were soooo poor.

As others have said, there was no chemistry there.  Axl needs to stop running around and concentrate more on his singing. He still hasn't cottoned on to how trite some of his moves and schtick are.
Slash's guitar sound (listening to it on TV, at least) was particularly unforgiving, and some of the lead lines sounded a bit clunky and misfiring. Duff had the look on his face I have when I know a gig is going south and all I can do is ride it out until I can get off stage.

Elton... a bit of a workmanlike set, for me. I expected more. The guests were talented enough, but the "OOOH, WHO'S IT GONNA BE?!" rumour mill had bigged it up too much, and they weren't notable enough to be interesting.

Pretenders...odd choice of setlist. Wot no Brass in Pocket? Too many new songs. Again, Chrissie seemed a bit uncomfortable on stage.

Rick Astley and the Blossoms - easily the highlight of what I have seen so far.

Yeah, but ditch the massive pedalboard.

I've just saw them do Smooth Sailing on iPlayer (starts 11 mins in). Wow. That's blisteringly good - I love that gnarly guitar solo Josh Homme does in the middle ...the song has so much swagger and groove!

There's a boatload of great guitar that happened this year at Glastonbury.
    ...she's got Dickie Davies eyes...

The line-up seemed a bit bare when it was first announced, but after digging in there was some exceptional music across many different genres. Whoever put it all together did a great job.

Just realised they have Jon Theodore on drums.

That probably explains it. He is amazing.

There are no weak links in that band.

They did a warm-up gig at the Piece Hall in Halifax, and it would be interesting to know if there was any pro-shot video as it was another great performance according to the reviews I've read.

QOTSA one of the few bands that genuinely have some swing in their music.

Indeed. Watching the incredible set again.. God is in the radio with its extended jam is ridiculously good.. a band totally tuned in to each other.

I watched the QOTSA set.  They are obviously really, really good  - and Homme is every bit as charismatic a frontman as Grohl, albeit in a more... intimidating(?)... way - but I don't particularly like many of the songs, to be honest.

Queens Of The Stone Age were epic at Glastonbury.

At times, raucous and dissonant. But loads of attitude and raw energy. Fantastic charismatic live performance. A big dynamic sound and some serious grooves.
    It's not a competition.

The QOTSA set was a vast improvement on the last time I caught them. The jam bit was pretty dull, and they never quite hit the magic Homme had with Kyuss.

Amen to that.  And I prefer the stuff John Garcia has released post-Kyuss, I wish he'd had the same success!

Seen them both many times. QOTSA at their best live is not as good as Kyuss.

Big billboard advertising round these parts for the GNR and Elton sets on iPlayer. Not ones advertising in advance, but using the past tense.

Not sure why the Beeb would invest in this expensive advertising for something they don’t get any revenue from, or am I missing something…?
