It is not supposed to be ranking guitarists Yorkie.
It is just members picking their personal favourites, that's all.

I know, I was just expressing my general disgust for rankings :-)
Adopted northerner with Asperger syndrome. I sometimes struggle with empathy and sarcasm – please bear with me.

I think rankings are absurd, but I can name a few whose songs I sometimes try (and fail) to emulate due to the way they made me feel when I heard them for the first time.

    - Mark Knopfler
    - The Young brothers (sorry Stevie)
    - BB King
    - Duane Eddy
    - Chet Atkins
    - Albert Collins
    - Stevie Ray Vaughan
    - Brian May
    - Tom Morello
    - Saul Hudson
    - Carlos Santana
    - John Lee Hooker

Sorry, no Sister Rosetta here. I’m 100% against male privilege and I’m fully conscious that I have produced an all-male list, but this is not a ranking and I don’t write for the Rolling Stone.

It’s just a bit of fun mate.

    Fuck the haters.

    In order.

    1. Joe Bonamassa. My all time favourite.
    2. Slash
    3. Zakk
    4. Tony Iommi
    5. Tony Bourge (purely for Napoleon Bona Part 1 and 2 which is just fucking epic.)
    6. Robertson/Gorham
    7. Vai
    8. Petrucci - maybe.
    9. Guthrie just for discovering what’s possible.

Only the top 5 really matter to me as being the most important though.

Most of the music I listen to is 70’s or 70’s inspired rock with the odd wrinkle but here goes :-

    Simon McBride
    David Gilmour
    Jimi Hendrix
    Andy Summers
    Jimmy Page
    Uli Jon Roth
    Brian May
    Ritchie Blackmore
    Lindsey Buckingham
    Gary Moore
    Joe Bonamassa
    Ricky Wilson

Plenty of others I listen to but these popped up first.
