Jim Hall used to use one for playing harmonic 4ths in his solos. So dive-bombing to cool jazz - what a pedal !!!!!
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

I have a screaming blues as well, I got it free with a magazine subscription and still use it to this day. Quite noisy though.

I can't believe the hot head sounds good with the hi knob at 2 o'clock :)) anything above 12 o'clock sounds like the old radio in my mum's old car about 20 years ago :D

Other than that, agreed. I have a bunch of digitechs and they're pretty nice. including the hot head (just not at 2 o'clock).
Sounded good to me at 2oclock. Mind I wanted a distortion rather than and OD sound. Enough for a heavily distorted tone, not so much that the note itself was lost.
Yeah maybe it just sounded good for the tone you wanted, or through your other gear (or maybe you're just a better player than me :)) ). But for me the once the high control gets above about 11-12 o'clock it just starts really thinning out the bass. The DS1 does the same.

I think for £45 the Hardwire CM2 is an insane bargain.

It's really versatile and stands up to pedals costing three times the price.
Where did you find that? I don't want the cm2 but they might have other pedals in the range that cheap...
Thomann has all the hardwire dirt pedals for under £50 I think. Granted, you might get screwed a bit on the exchange rate (plus unless you get over the 200 euro barrier you have to pay 10 euros postage).

Also they have "Digital" in the name which for guitarists sensibilities is the worst thing you could be called.
I think that really screws them.

I've seen loads of people on forums asking if the Bad Monkey is digital.
    Agreed.

Even worse- I've seen tons of people on forums who are adamant that all the digitech distortions are digital (i.e. not asking, telling).

It did thin the bass out, but I did want that sound. Certainly not a "classic rock" or "blues" pedal by any means. I was using it for a bit of practise last night. I do like to learn with firstly a clean sound, then low gain, then high gain. Puts things a bit more in context, and effectively makes 1 lick useable in 3 situations.

Yeah that's fair enough if that's what you want :D I don't really want tons of bass, but I don't really want it to be thin, either. It might help at higher distortion settings, too- I generally run it with the distortion around 11 o'clock and at that level past about 12 o'clock is too thin for me.

I'm glad you spelled out exactly how Jim Hall used the Whammy. I imagine it'd sound really good.

When I first read that he'd used one I literally did a double take and was wracking my brains trying to think how on earth he worked dive bombs and octave leaps into his normal solos.

    Shows how ignorant I am

I have used Digi pedals for years and really like them. The one's below have served me so well, I haven't bothered to change them for Hardwire's.

and there's a Bad Monkey that put's in the occasional appearance.  :D

I was buying a pedal the other day and the shop guy kept telling me all the sub £100 pedals were digital. I mentioned how an MXR was noisy and he was like "yeah thats cause its all digital inside". I was like, a Dyna comp? Really? I think he just thought digital = bad or was confusing printed circuit vs handwired.

Except I didnt say that because I wanted him to like me so I could haggle a discount, thats my guitar shop story hope you like it.

I have a DF-7 Distortion Factory tucked away somewhere - it's a wee bit sterile on its own but awesome in front of a decent amp that's already on the brink of breaking up - the MT-2 model sounds better than a real MT-2 imo

Keep meaning to buy a Whammy just cos they're cool but I doubt I'd ever use it
I can therefore recommend the Expression Factory, which has the Distortion Factory plus a Whammy, wahs, and some other weird ones
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

Guitar shop staff who know less than nothing about the products they're selling are hardly a new thing, to be fair...

My recent set up experience supports this statement.

Actually, it's still not set up perfectly - it'll go out of tune at the nut, but a bit of playing seems to sort it - as if it just needs a touch of help.

I'm going to put some nut sauce on the guitar, chalk it down to experience and have it done by a pro when I have the strat set up. Bastards.

    :)

    Saucy
I'd recommend butter instead if you want it to play better
