    Mesa Trem-o-verb.
The Trem-o-Verb was the nicest sounding amp I've ever used but it was a brief romance. Having not long previously parted with a Burman Pro 2000 the last thing I needed was another amp made of Osmium. My back deserved better. Nevertheless, it was sad to see the Tremo-o-Verb go.

For gigging and manageable weight my blackface 4x10 Super Reverb was just about perfect.

My current fave pairing is a Gretsch through a 1963 brownface Tremolux. Sweet.
    Tasty....pics!

    Lazy J20. Still got it.
I’m on my sixth Lazy J20. Each of them has at one time been the best amp I’ve ever played. Then along came Bartel, the best amps I’ve ever played for sure. Although having said that, I’ve sold both of the Bartels and I still have a J20, go figure!  :)

For different reasons and contexts for me it would be
Genz Benz Black Pearl 30 - as @Boromedic stated. Tremendous AC 30 tones on a budget, Plus the voice allows other territory to be covered.
The very best, 30 W or more that sounded brilliant at low volumes (That I have owned)
MJW Orion - Just a brilliant amp all round
Vox AC4HW - A different sound to the genz, In the same ballpark, of course, and had a personality of its own
Also one of the best looking amps - often seen in @dazzajl photos
Blackstar Artisan 15 , I never had the 30, no way I could lift it! - as has also been remarked, tremendous pedal platform and absolutely 3-D clean sounds

sad tale is that all of them I would wish I had Been able to keep , and would by back in a heartbeat… but hey Ho
( apart from the Genz would have to be a head)

Carvin Legacy. Best clean sounds ever, best distorted sounds ever.

  • I'd have to say Orange Rocker 30 - it suits me really well (head and open-back 2x12). If I was in a function band it may not be "the best" though.

Somehow I've never played through a proper classic Marshall - I think I'd probably like it if I tried one. But for now the Orange does it for me (and has done for over a decade now)
