UPDATE Mrs Travis' Mammogram Time again - that two years down

Most of the old MR guard will remember my missis was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago almost to the day. She's done fabulously but tomorrow is mammogram day and we are both shitting ourselves once again. Although I'll be home tomorrow for the scan, I've been working away this week and dealing with my worry by downing wine in my hotel rooms Fucking pathetic Everywhere I look and every time I turn on the TV or radio or open a paper there is some mention of cancer and I keep thinking "fuck it's a bad omen" - I even saw a single magpie today and found myself desperately looking for a second All the time I'm sat here being pathetic - the missis is at home dealing with the kids and work and never moaning. I'm not religious but I'm praying

You are NOT Pathetic !

You are Human and have feelings. To Love your Wife is NOT Pathetic and to worry about her is normal.

It's not easy, i've been through a very similar experience with my Late Father when i was quite young but you're obviously strong and you should be proud of yourself for having the feelings you have.

I'm not the most religious guy in history but Religion is the Opiate of the Masses and if it gets you through then faith is good.

If it means anything to you, you are both in my families thoughts and the brief, silent prayers we offer.

I would always have a sleepless night before mrs f's check ups. The best news is when the consultant starts to get bored seeing you, and you get shunted down to the registrar.

In the same boat here, so I feel your pain, we've just had the 2 year clear although there's still major discomfort from the radiotherapy which means disturbed sleep most nights. I ended up on anti depressants for a while trying to keep positive for both of us.

What people fail to realise is that it's just as difficult for the partner as it is for the sufferer......

Keep strong for her, talk to each other, make every day as special as possible.......whatever will be will be......

Good luck - really hope all is well. I'm not really religious but prayed a fair amount a few few years ago - without wishing to sound weird, I think we have a spiritual need when times get really tough. It definitely made me feel better for reasons I don't understand....
