Tip for people having trouble with the download- connect your iDevice to your computer and install via iTunes.

It works much better that way.

downloaded ok but it's stuck at the verifying at the last part of installing - it keeps saying  - update unavailable at this time...   hopefully it'll sort itself very soon!

As I said above- do it via iTunes.

I had the same problem trying to do it from devices.

iTunes works.

What's in it? Does it have multiple users yet? Cos thats a real pain in the arse that I cant use half the apps cos the wife has her profile on them.

Interesting... I have a VPN running on my Mac Pro.

I just tried updating my 3rd iDevice with the VPN turned off and it failed.

I re-enabled VPN and it worked.

I managed to repeat this several times.

Looks like Apple is maybe limiting updates to US customers (My VPN is through East Coast USA)

I'm unimpressed so far. 3.1gb!!!! Folders look odd too. Like the control centre though. All feels a bit androidy.

I like the look of it- it feels faster and definitely Android-like.

Took me a bit to find 'search'.

I kept swiping down from the top of the screen and got the notification stuff.

You can search by swiping on a home screen from the middle down (not from the top).

So how much is genuinely new and/or better, and how much is just changing stuff that worked perfectly well before, to something different but not actually better? (Genuine question, not rhetorical.)

Is battery life affected? (Either way.)

I'd be happy to upgrade if it does things better and doesn't affect battery life, or if it does things just differently and gives better battery life, but not really bothered otherwise. I don't have any issues with the functionality, speed or much with the battery life with iOS6 really.

I haven't updated yet (still downloading new itunes first..!) but from what I've read:

The new Control Centre is a good addition. Just swipe up to get controls for wifi, bluetooth, flight mode, flashlight, brightness, music player etc.

Notification Centre looks better

Leather binding, green felt and stitching is gone

I don't know about battery life as I need a couple of days with it- it doesn't seem worse though. 

It is difficult to advise anyone whether it is worth it or not because I don't know what you consider important.

There is new stuff in there in terms of functionality, some organisation differences- one swipe to get access to control centre for instance, where you can access flight mode, wifi, Bluetooth, dnd, play controls, torch, camera etc is really neat. 

You have all that stuff in iOS6 but it isn't as easily to hand, stuff is hidden in menus, now it isn't. 

I love the dynamic wallpaper that moves about on the screen when you move the device about. 

One thing to know, once you go to 7 you can't roll back to 6 that easily. 

Your call, really.

According to Ars Technica iOS 7 drains the battery a bit faster. Doesn't seem majorly significant but it is there. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1638321

I've got it . Not sure on the look yet , haven't tried any of the new features though. Will have a go when I get home
