A mate of mine has a gold disc from when he was in Goldie Looking Chain. He only swore into a microphone, though.

My wife's family were close friends with Bob Mortimer and his family up until his Mum (Eunice) died. Bob's (or Robbie as he was known then) dad was killed in a car accident when he was little and my father-in-law used to take him fishing a lot after that.

I was in the buffet at Doncaster train station once, and looked to my side and suddenly noticed that Paddy Ashdown, at that time the leader of the Lib Dems (and still the best one IMO :D ), was sat at the next table, plus entourage. It really brightened the journey from Grimsby to Leeds.

I stood next to Roger Moore at the urinals in a motorway services for a minute or so once. I like to think he tells that story as often as I do.
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

I was once almost run over by Ed from Radiohead, and MrsF used to live round the corner from Thom Yorke - we once saw his kids chasing him around a park with a pushchair :)

Did he use their names, or did he refer them by their initials, eg 'Kid A'?

Sounds like they drove him round the bends....

I once got cut up by Arsen Wenger (sp), I sounded my horn at him and gave him the wanker sign.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

I went to school with Angela Lansbury's (Jessica from Murder She Wrote) niece. I took her to see Led Zeppelin once.

    Did you bang?
Sadly not. She was way out of my league really, I think she only came to the Zep gig with me to see the band, not cos of any lustful cravings for me.

My band toured last year supporting Steve Cropper with The Animals. We shared dressing rooms in some venues and he loves to talk and drink, many many tales were heard. His amp went down in Milton Keynes and I fixed it, he said "Rob, you're da man!"

Knowing someone famous is not a claim to fame. Meeting someone famous is an even lesser claim to fame.

In order to claim fame you must actually be famous - everything is just shameless namedroppery.

We got a 13-year old Gruff Rhys to play drums for us for one song in 1982.

I have my hair cut at the same barbers as James Dean Bradfield.

  • Years ago when my son was in primary school, the teacher asked the class to write up a menu for someone famous and explain why they would give that particular meal etc.
Well my son started writing up a menu for me, when the teacher said"David its for a famous person not your dad" and my lad said well he is famous! And as the teacher tried to explain what he meant about being famous, my lad said " look everywhere we go, people know him and talk to him, he's been on radio with his songs, in the papers, me and mum can't go anywhere without someone who knows him" and the teacher just said ok carry on.
My mrs teaches at the school and the teacher was laughing like hell about it afterwards whilst telling her what he had said.
