I notice here are no string trees on the PRS headstocks - there's a slight tilt to the head.
With Gibson the tilt results in many a cracked neck - why not so for PRS?
I think they probably would break if you dropped them just right.

I'm not going to test it.

If you can't get a decent tone out of a PRS then it's probably time to examine your playing, cos it ain't the guitar that's wrong...

Alright, no need to rub it in....   :-S

Les paul guitars increase your sexual desirability by between 80 and 100 percent.

Got to say, Les Pauls do look the business!!

I might be mental. I bought two new PRS at significant cost (one a 2013 Experience model and the other a 2014 Wood Library model). I honestly don't regret it at all!! In future I'd look at getting a startling green Artist model with Brazilian neck... or just go for something off ebay. They play a dream, look the business, don't weight too much, they're gig-ready - just awesome!
That's still a bit of a shocker, and proves that the PRS qc isn't perfect, especially on a "high end" model (though they're all made much the same way) - actually, it probably just means the way they make the parts (ie cnc?) and glue them together is good, rather than the qc being better or more than a man quickly setting it up and saying it works.

I do loves me a prs though. I love the satin ones, and the old pink ones. You don't get many of those anymore sadly.

PRS is a victim of starting his company in 1985, if he d started it in 1965. Ive a very high suspicion lots of Classic Rock Albums would have used them. Our perception would be totally different. All the Rush albums 93-2002 use them & they sound pretty good. I know he uses other guitars, but buy Rush In Rio on DVD. He gets a wicked tone from CE24, CU22, Singlecuts etc.

There's an early video of someone jumping up and down on a neck with the full weight on its headstock in the factory. There's another more recent one of an SE being thrown down a flight of stairs. Both survived.

Pretty much, and that is where the "mojo" is.

Imagine if Page had used a McCarty instead.

In that case I stand corrected.  But I can't think why a PRS headstock should be any stronger than a Gibson one.

I love my DGT, for me its the dogs doodahs the cat's cream etc etc. I have no idea who David Grissom is, if he walked into a crowded pub I would struggle to recognise him. I own none of his records and I can't say I'm a big fan on his playing, from the short youtube videos I've seen.
All I wanted was a PRS CU22 with a trem, decent coil splits, no rotary knob and two volume controls. So the DGT ticked all of the boxes for me. I still think about selling my SG and getting a PRS instead. When the Gibson price hike comes into full swing I probably will sell it and buy a second hand custom 22.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

I am not physicist but surely it has to do with the angle of the headstock, the position of the tuners and the thickness of the headstock.  All adds up to how strong or weak it is.

Also, perhaps prs use a different joint to Gibson?

From the factory tour, I know Gibson's neck is 1 piece, I know PRS's neck, the wings are glued on, and also 1 piece for the neck joint wise, or lack of a joint.

    Taylor uses a scarf joint.

I can't add much more to what's been said so I'll just put my own opinion anyway. I love them. I've had 3 PRS' and unfortunately due to life getting in the way, I had to sell them/part ex to pay bills.

They were all from different periods of PRS, 1990, 1999 and 2007. They all had the same thing in common in that they were all built exceptionally well and played better than any thing else. There's only two things that bugged me though. Stock pickups on them sounded too compressed and the sharp contour where your arm rests dug into my arm making it a bit of an annoyance at times. Other than that, perfect.

I hope I can afford another one some day.

    Lol.

Add to that PRS actually bought the machines that used to make the pickups in Gibson's golden era !

One can argue that the modern PRS with the 57/08 is closer to the Gibson of that era than Gibson current does.
The original supplier of wire to gibson and Fender started producing again, prs got an exclusive contract on that wire. They didn't buy a leesona winding machine, PRS use modern machines to wind pickups in batches.

I'm a huge prs fanboy but when paul starts giving interviews saying they're having "the old stuff made again" take it with a huge pinch of salt.

    STOP STOP STOP

I have now started looking at PRS in classifieds, on ebay, gumtree etc.

    I have no GAS funds.

I had to cry off from an agreed purchase recently with a member here - due to unexpected big bills.
And since then my car broke.
And I've got some 'big' birthdays imminent involving much spending of the dosh.

    I ain't got the dough.
