He could have applied through the correct process and even mentioned it in passing if he genuinely wanted the job, but the way he's done it is pure pointless social media whoring, which let's face it is his main talent.

I saw this on the other SP thread, watched the Insta and thought it must surely be slightly tongue in cheek ?

I've only been connected to guitar related media for a few years, so missed the early days of Rob Chapman. But I find him to be highly irritating to the extreme. And then I feel somewhat guilty about it.

And then I think no - he's a berk who can play amazingly boring technical wizardry, and who loves the sound of his own voice.

But...from some of the more recent exposure, I do wonder if he has decided to send himself up a bit ? All slightly Carry On...like Charles Hawtrey, Sid James and Kenneth Williams rolled into one crossed into a rock goddess.

Edit - for the record, I am also a complete dolt, albeit in private rather than in public...

In absolute fairness to Chapman he does say in both the video and the caption that he's applied by email already. Presumably he's hoping to butter the biscuit by demonstrating his significant social following to try and swing his audition into the Considering pile rather than the Chancers.

Although with a video like that I'd probably swing it into the Dispose With Extreme Prejudice pile, personally.
