    Blimey!
I know that his broadcasting often didn't get much love on here but I think his replacement highlighted how good Steve could actually be and he was a much loved figure by many R2 listeners.  From conversations I've heard with him there was much music he loved, he was an old fashioned DJ in that sense rather than just a celebrity who happened to be on national radio.
This seems quite sudden, he has been broadcasting until the last couple of weeks I think.
Well, he will be missed by many. Very sad news. RIP.

As polarizing as his Radio style was, it's such a shame to lose another who seems to have been around all of my life.........I'm a few months younger than he. Seems we are seeing sudden deaths very regularly.

He was brilliant back in the Eighties. Established his show to a point where it was always fun to tune in, even if you did know what you were going to get.

RIP and thanks for the memories.

Was channel surfing in the car a couple of Saturday’s ago, in an effort to escape something depressing on LBC and came across his show. I listened for the rest of the journey was struck by how young he sounded. Genuinely shocked by this news. RIP.

Sad to hear the news about Steve Wright - I listened to him a lot in my younger days.
Five Live just had the man who did Mr Angry on and he brilliantly signed off by shouting "So sad! So sad! I could throw the phone down!" and much to my surprise I burst into tears.
