They kind of do actually.....although outcomes may vary.
There are several shown in the above pics.....
Thanks @euan and @rlw
I went on a weekday lunchtime and it was pretty empty bar a few people. I imagine on weekends it might get busier. But it's also tucked away down a side street so not much foot traffic going on around there.
tbh the T-shirts were probably more interesting than the guitars, most of it is just the same model in different colours.
Staff were friendly, there was a big queue downstairs to meet some band that had been or would be playing I think.
They frequently offered to let me try stuff.
I suppose unlike any other shop, they are probably happy to let you look at all the pretty colours and try stuff out, but not buy, since if you then buy mail-order, Gibson still make money.
Thinking about it now, they should have more amplifiers, and more historical stuff - old lap steels, old gibson amps.
I'd run it as a showcase (like this), but also as a museum, to attract visitors and reinforce the brand.
It did all seem to be Les Pauls and 335s really, which gets a bit samey.
Did it have all the Jazz box models in there?
I think they should have one of everything really.
Just c@ck tease yourself playing a £8000 Custom shop Gibson , put it back on the stand and go home to your either standard Gibson or Chinese Epiphone and playing it seems worse since playing that £8k custom.
....Personally i'd walk straight past it...
