This is the path the search helicopter took.  It left Rhodes military airport at 18:40 local and spent about 1h15 going up and down the coast.  Presumably lack of daylight stopped their search.  The fact they've been flying over the water almost exclusively could sadly suggest they are working on the assumption he's in the sea.  I do hope they find him, and alive.  I've always liked him greatly.

Looks like they have been going over the same areas repeatedly, no wonder they haven't found him. Alomst looks like a side profile of billy gibbons.

Or maybe someone threw acid in his face from a mcdonalds cup, inspired by farage shakegate. Then his corpse was abducted by aliens. (74% of which are trump supporters).

This just isn't true.

If you lose weight do exercise and eat properly you can reverse type 2 diabetes and no doctor in world would suggest you take meds that you don't need for it.

All very sad, I had a look at the path between the beach and the town he was staying in.
It's the kind of path people do in 30 mins wearing sandals.

I can't see any other paths from that beach.

Correct. I've walked that path when it was nothing more than a goat track some12-15 years ago and it's safe, about 10m above sea level, max. Apparently since we were there it's been improved somewhat. 

Despite what is out in the press that he was headed back to their accommodation in the village of Pedi, they are searching the shoreline away from that route. They must have additional information to make that decision. I guess they are leaving the inland search to the drone, dog and people on foot.

I cannot imagine going for a trek anywhere in this heat (we're in Kos).  It's been especially brutal for the last couple of days and I've remained in the shade.

Here's hoping for an increasingly unlikely happy outcome.

Or they've run out of places to look on the route and are spreading out the search just in case.

If the path he took is that low one from beach to Pedi then clearly it wouldn't take long to establish he wasn't on it.

Bit unclear from what I can see online. He either didn't finish qualifying as a psychiatrist (which I think is the case) or didn't practice or practice it for long. His fields of interest are mainly diet, nutrition,etc, but I don't think he has worked as a doctor for decades and is effectively a medical journalist.But calling himself Doctor (which I think he is entitled to do) gives a bit of gravitas to presenting science based programmes I guess. 
I like him as a presenter, very engaging and thoughtful. I hope he is okay and it's just been an odd bit of misadventure.

It was directed at you and others who were speculating at what might have happened to this poor man, for example, bringing out maps and ruling out sudden onset of diabetes as a factor in him disappearing. 

You can't take the moral high ground on this one...as much as you'd love to.

He's now been caught on CCTV apparently back in the town which was his original intended destination. Odd.
