I have a Ricochet and had considered using that, but I liked the feature of the OC3's poly control, so that only the lower register gets 'octived'.

Doesn't sound like there's a solid solution for what I'm looking to do, so might just take the approach of feeding a lower octive into a bass amp to create a bigger sound. Could be pretty cool.

I have a Plethora x5 too. I wonder if there's anything in there that'd work better than the Ricochet?

The Sub'n'Up in poly mode has pretty stable tracking. Should be in the X5, I think?

Separate amps for guitar and bass is the way to go. Or alternatively play a bass with distortion as it can sound a bit like a distorted guitar with huge bottom.

If they have I hope they have been incarcerated.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

I'm not wearing my glasses and read that as "incinerated" first time.

I think a fun option is to mod your guitar like the Bacci baritones that Matteo Mancuso use:

Lots of options, but honestly, a good dirty tone o a p bass is so good for this kind of music.

Never underestimate how much difference bass makes. The groove!

Think Corin Tucker (Sleater Kinney) might have a baritone string instead of the low E on her guitar?? This is 'The Woods' era I'm thinking, so as heavy as a band without a bass guitar can get as far as I'm concerned. She had a huge Fender Showman and 6x12 if I remember correctly on that tour (it was 20 years ago tbf though! My memory might not be correct)

If anyone hasn't heard that album btw, do so now

I read the thread title as
Pedals That Can Intimidate A Bass Player
so any old pedal will probably do.

The Electro Harmonix Bass9 was created to do this job. I’ve not tried one so don’t know if it’s any good, but it’s probably worth investigating.

You need a looper with the bass part stored in it. That way it will be steady, consistent and note perfect, like a bass player.

And also not notice when the other musicians do something different, either intentionally or not, like a bass player :).
