OCD for dirt on bass (plus an xotic boost preamp thing and an OC2 if that counts)

Fulltone Mas Malo and Wampler Sovereign for guitar (plus a Tone City Kafir Lime boost/EQ, which I believe is an xotic clone).

That last is a bit risky, because we can't say the K word in South Africa for obvious reasons.  I have the name covered with masking tape.  Followed by "-Lime" it's just the leaves that you use in a green curry, but I don't fancy explaining that to the cops. When I bought it, it was described as a "K-lime," so I wasn't aware that I was risking six months in jail.

I had to google what you just said about that K word. I did not know that. Everyday's a school day!

Crikey, reading all this it seems I've got some catching up to do!

    On the board:

    - Ibanez TS9
    - Proco Lil' Rat

    On the bench:

    - EHX Russian Muff
    - EHX Op-amp Muff
    - Boss DF-2 Feedbacker / Distortion (not technically mine, but on permanent loan from a relative)

Erm ... I play in stereo to 2 amps and it's wider / more immersive with 2 independent drive channels, so that makes it even worse as I have to get 2 of each...
In general some [of the same] pedals have a great stereo spread as a pair, whereas some others sort of still sound mono together. All of these pairs I've kept sound great/wide.

    - Greer Soma x2
    - Dr Scientist Elements x3
    - Dr Scientist Frazz Dazzler x2
    - SS/BS Mini x2
    - SS/BS Fuck x2
    - JHS Crayon x2
    - JHS Colour Box x2
    - Supro Drive x2
    - Fender Trapper x2
    - Hudson Broadcast x2
    - Field Effects Manifold x2
    - Fjord Fuzz Embla x2
    - Pelican Noiseworks Pelitaur x2
    - Vaderin HP-X x2
    - Malaise Forever Clubber Lang x2
    - Infanem Driving Notion x2
    - OBNE Screen Violence (stereo pedal)

    Just one each of these:
(Looking for another one of these, especially 1st two, if anyone's selling!)
    - Pelican Noiseworks Half Horse
    - Infanem 141G
    - Infanem Step
    - NSA Piggy

And on-offs of these "weird" drives:
    - DBA Germanium Filter x2 (currently have 2 but one is for sale)
    - Fairfield Circuitry Roger That
    - DBA Absolute Destruction
    - Dropping Acid #RIP
    - Fairfield Circuitry 4-Eyes
    - Iron Ether QF2
    - (Clone of) Acceleron Fuzz (not a weird drive)

I have totally 8 pedals and 6 of them are dirt boxes :)

    Hudson Broadcast
    Vemuram Shanks ODS
    Vemuram Budi G
    Free the Tone MS-SOV2
    Gladio SC
    The Dane V2

I use a small board, pick 3 drive pedals depending on the guitar and the mood. Earthquaker Dispatch Master and Mini Vent are the other 2 pedals. Having a smaller helps me to focus on my playing rather than turning on/off the pedals all the time.

I find myself unable to answer the question, and I don't have a link to any at the moment. Perhaps I could say it's Prog Rock / Dream Pop / Shoegaze / Goth / Drone / Minimalism

Sooo... yeah, the obvious answer is "too many". Funnily enough, when I picked guitar up again a couple years ago, I thought "I don't understand those players that have a million drive pedals".

    Turns out: I do.

Anyway, here they all are, in rough order from "tamest" to "gnarliest", and with my favorite children in bold

    EHX East River (TS clone)
    EHX Crayon (BB preamp clone)
    Zvex Distortron
    EQD White Light
    EHX Op-amp fuzz
    EQD Hoof
Unnamed handmade hybrid - clone of an EQD Acapulco Gold, but with separate volume and gain + a Big Muff tone stack + a mid cut/boost
Burns Buzzaround clone [handmade ebay clone]
    DOD Carcosa

So, where does this leave me:

They're not a huge amount, but honestly, v much surplus to requirements.

My board Currently: The White Light for anything low- to mid-gain; going as high as some slightly fuzzy put still cutting and open punk sounds, as we play a few numbers that are more straightforward punk, and cleaning up on vol knob below that when i need; and either the Acapulco Gold hybrid or the Hoof for more high gain stuff. If I get a different buzzaround clone in the future, i can absolutely see it replacing these as the higher gain options. I'm toying with the idea of a third slot for something more nasty, which at this stage would be the Carcosa.

Ok, and what are you (inevitably) buying next?
I am going to sell the two EHX drives soon - I don't gel with tubescreamers it turns out, and with the whole "using an OD to push further gain stages" in general. The White Light, on the other hand, they will have to pry from my cold dead hands. I may also sell the op-amp: it's huge fun, but not quite what I'm looking for in a muff.

I still miss the EHX green russian reissue, it's amazing, but I was really getting lost in a band mix; the Hoof gets *most* of the way there but it really doesn't quite have the push of the full green russian. Another russian-inspired muff with a mids control will probably see me take the bait sooner or later.

The Buzzaround clone is great, great fun, but with a few hitches; it left me hungry for a more "mature" version; but those come at a hefty price.

I recently sold a Dano 3699 that sounded fantastic but didn't really fit the way I play; something else with an octave could be fun but would be quite niche for me. I've also been thinking about trying my hand with a RAT or relative thereof again.

    Good question. Hmmm:

    -Barber Dirty Bomb
    -WMD Geiger Counter Pro
    -Marshall Guv'nor
    -Strymon Sunset
    -Strymon Riverside
    -Way Huge Green Rhino
    -Subdecay Liquid Sunshine MKi
    -Amp Tweaker Tight Drive Pro
    -Devi Ever 90
    -Devi Ever Hyperion
    -BAT Pharaoh
    -BAT Pharaoh Supreme
    -Magnetic Effects Solar Bender
    -Magnetic Effects Buzzer
    -Karma FX OCD Clone
    -Railhead TUA

So 4 distortions, 5 overdrives, 6 fuzz, 1 bit crusher.

I've had quite a few others over the years, but in the end I kind of burnt out. I wouldn't mind a Death By Audio Interstellar Overdriver, a Hudson Broadcast and a MKiii Liquid Sunshine at some point. The Tight Drive Pro is definitely the most versatile on this list and probably my favourite.

OCD & Boss OD3 work as a pair for general covers work. Crunch, drive and lead…

The Boss OD3 stopped me needing to look at more.
