It was nice to go in and note-for-note the bassline for this one as it's long been a favourite of mine that I've only ever done an approximation of rather than properly learning. Also transcribed the drums and then, in one of the most pointless exercises I've ever done, I transcribed the violin part note for note. I had to drop some of it down an octave as I don't have 25 frets, but I then proceeded to play it on my Les Paul. I played every note, but boy was there some editing involved. I then padded out the arrangement with a little bit of organ and some Mellotron strings, which aren't very Dylanesque but work quite well.
Rushed job, not very happy with some of the improvised guitar parts (some annoying electric buzz from my strat in some parts as well, wiring needs attention) and sub par and boomy vocals but it was still an enjoyable experience.
The pros: I've used my strat for the first time in this challenge (it's usually my LP or Tele) and really enjoyed it. hadn't played it for some time and it was nice to get back to those in between and neck tones.
The cons: I can't sing to save my life but hey, at least I'm having fun.
As for the song choice, I really couldn't decide on a song that I enjoyed and that I could cover for the letter O. On the Beach has been regularly in my playlist since 1985 and it was appropriate for this time of the year, so I ended up going for it.
