@chillydoggy, it's crystalised ginger, doesn't dissappear when it's been in the oven for a few hours. Might add a few finely chopped prunes soaked in armagnac this year to see what that is like.

Dominoes pizza for me and a shit load of beer. Me and the Mrs eat quite healthy the rest of the year so it's a good excuse to eat cheese and bread

Christmas eve is big in my house.  My wife is Italian, so it's a meat free family feast day (suits me, i've been vegetarian for 30 years).

All in all, I thunk we've got 11 courses planned in, with 25 seated for dinner.  It's an all day thing

Christmas day will be about 7 courses, over at my inlaws. Same people, different location.

Great choice with the Champagne, I'm going Billecart-Salmon/Bollinger-depending on the offers at the wine merchants.

TBH it was the best value posh one at Dubai duty free! Pretty bottle though. We had a bottle of Dom Perignon last year which was nice but not spectacular if I'm honest. High hopes for this one
