A friend of my sister was born on the 29th Feb.

Gets round the problem by having her birthday on the 28th.

She's just lying to herself really though ultimately.

I quite like the nugget of fact as well with leap years, how if the year is divisible by 100, but not by 400, then its not a leap year. So year 2000 was, 1900 was not. Sorry if that was also on QI, i don't watch it so i wouldn't know haha

I don't get the issue with birthdays and the 29th..You're still a year older 12 months later, it just falls on 1st March not 29th Feb.

The issue was more when she was little, and wanted a birthday every year (as kids do).

So to keep the month the same they (her parents) celebrated on the 28th.

For years I celebrated my birthday on the 31th October.It wasn't until my sister was born on 30th October when I was ten,and my parents got my birth certificate out that they realised we shared a birthday.

My word,that was embarrassing.

that's properly odd. I know I've mentioned this before but my sister in law ( wife's sister)has two kids, both born ( years apart) on her birthday. Even my brother in law can't forget that date! Although I didn't learn that today.

/\ All I can put it down to is that my Mum and Dad split when I was around four years old and you know what blokes are like for remembering dates,he probably told my step Mum the wrong date so she didn't know any different until my birth certificate was uncovered.

I can laugh about it now but at the time I was not impressed.

Mrs Beeton on how to make 'good' tea. Heat the teapot. One spoonful of tea (leaves of course) per person and one for the pot. Add boiling water (not nearly boiling or gone off the boil). Wait a few minutes. Enjoy.
