In Canada (a few years back) we watched some joiners doing roughing joinery & they had these really great long handled hammers- like this http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.tool-net.co.uk/data/tools/hae324s.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-332015/estwing-e3-28s-28oz-vinyl-gripped-straight-claw-framing-hammer.html&h=250&w=250&sz=5&tbnid=K6GYNNLgTkQuMM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=__vScRcF0XEQgHVANb0YJOY8CiPtc=&docid=pGc6SzbHRvTvHM&sa=X&ei=FfdOUsTxO8uM7Aao_oCoDg&sqi=2&ved=0CGQQ9QEwBA
Would have liked to bring one back, so I could bore people about it, but realised this might be a bit embarrassing. It's one of the things I remember best about the holiday, though we did in fact see a bear.
They also have a small museum about hammers in Haines Alaska, unfortunately it was closed. This was one of the disappointing things about the holiday- though we also didn't see a wolverine.
There y' go get one for on the mantlepiece, & hammering things when necessary.
20's available for a wee bit more, quite good value for something that good (don't have one personally)
