Although I don't like the Big Muff, it does seem to have the kind of sound you're after.
I'd get Thorpy's  Triangle muff for authentic Floyd tones.
I'm struggling with my Big Muff at the moment. Initially was looking for an early Smashing Pumpkins type fuzz but it just sounds harsh and loud as hell. Anybody have settings to share?

Hmmm, the £50 budget is the tricky one... maybe an early Tonefactor/ Mojo Hand Huckleberry could get in that ballpark for price and tone. The MXR Classic 108 fuzz could be had for that or a bit more. I have both by the way but am not selling.

For a smooth Gilmouresque pedal, the two I can highly recommend are the Skreddy Lunar Module and the Buffalo FX Evolution. More than you were looking to pay but so worth it in my book - both excellent pedals.

For under fifty quid go for the original - Big Muff Pi.
