Looks like the 'get rid of the Gibson 2015 stock' drive has started.

I did wonder when this might start happening..

They'll need to knock more than that off,was looking at a load yesterday. They were all just so wrong....

  • Some of those prices have been kicking around for a while anyway.

Will need to come down more than that to get them shifting

Think I'd rather get tossed off by Edward Scissorhands than spend £2200 on one of those 2015 Standards.

Traditionals have been 1429 for some time. Now various UK stores have them on at 1699. So not a discount at all on those.

I also noticed that some sites started discounting 339's and was wondering why?
Does anybody know if there is any difference with 2015 semis, looking at 335 and 339 mostly, than the previous years?
Thinking about a 339 and new vs used is really close now but not sure if the ones form the Custom Shop are actually any better.

I have been told by the manager of a guitar shop that older 339s are better than the newer ones and are selling for higher prices than the new ones would fetch second hand.  Don't know the details of the differences and why he said this though.

PMT had the Standards at £1915 last week so Rich Tone are behind the curve.

Edit - PMT website has now gone to £2199. Weird.

So is this dealers' dumping them?

Or are Gibson changing specs again?

    I can't keep up!

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

I think the dealers want to dump but are watching each other's prices and adjusting to maximise their margins.
I feel quite sorry for them having to stock up on this year's Gibson experiment.

As @Fortheloveofguitar says, the new range is so unpopular that they are going to have to offer bigger discounts if they wish to get shot of them this year.

Hartnolls, and some other UK dealers have been selling the Gibson Les Paul Special Double Cut for around £629. Thomann's were selling it at one point for £618, however, that now seems to have gone up.

The price's are over the place, another reason to avoid buying one until the end of the year.

Where have you been.  The prices have been lower than Richtone's for a few weeks now and some are going back again.  You could have bought a 2015 Deluxe less than £1300 last week and a Studio for £849 but these have vanished again.

Had an email from Rich Tone this morning. I don't actively watch the Gibson prices anymore so was surprised to see the discounting starting so early.

"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)

This is the clever marketing coming back into play.  Pay more for something that has less or the same.  Great ploy.

  • Looks like the stores are playing the old supermarket discount tricks.

Mark the price up to then discount it, making it look like a good deal.

  • Anyone looking at buying a 2015 will have to keep it as the secondhand value will hit the floor.

The market will be saturated with them too, pushing the price down further.

I've been out of things for a good while - what's up with 2015 Gibbys?

Edit; never mind, seems there's been a fair few threads...
