Love the way the B string's been spliced. Must stay in tune really well.

I was suspicious as soon as I saw "Aimee" on the end of the description. As though they're wanting to entice people who think they're going to be taking a guitar worth thousands from a young woman who was a bit naive.

Call me cynical but I thought exactly the same thing!

Trying way too hard to appear clueless in the description. Especially as the seller's Ebay account name is 'lovetorock666' and she/he(? although a couple of the sold items are dresses) has sold a fair bit of guitar stuff.

I wouldn't put it past even that being a deliberate touch to make it appear more 'authentic'.

I thought about that but then realised if you can afford a real Gibson, chances are you can afford a set of strings.

Even Frampton's didn't look that bad - and that had been in a plane crash!

Why is the hardware silver rather than gold?
Also why does the headstock inlay just look plain white rather than abalone or whatever it usually is?

That headstock "inlay" looks like bits of white paper stuck on with pritt to me.

The headstock is also way too short, like an Epiphone that's been reshaped.

I've reported the item, bidding is now at £430.

I've also asked the seller if I can view it, no reply yet...

£510 now....I think its so obvious from the Headstock and colour /grain from the woods its fake., who ever wins this pretty much deserves the guitar they're going to buy, due to lack of research!

To be fair that's the best relic job I've ever seen, got to be worth a few hundred quid just for that!

In the headstock/trussrod hole you can see what looks a bit like a splice. If the guitar had been played hard the finish could come off but under the PU rings? The route for the controls looks too neat and the maple cap is not visible in there or in the PU routes. Someone sure tried hard though.

    At least it's black.

    I thought it hadn't...?
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Yeah, the plane crashed and, unfortunately, the crew were killed if I remember correctly.  However the guitar survived somehow and came to light over 30 years later.

Unless it was all a hoax.

The crew probably survived but the guitar ended up eating them.
