    I sent "her" a link to this discussion and received this reply;

    "I have ended it now because I have had a fee people questioning it and I don't want to be made out to be a con artist or trying it on...I will get it checked out by a specialist and if it turns out to be definitely genuine then I will relist it"

    Old customs didn't have a maple top did they? It was all one piece of 'hog?
    And you know what else? Those safety lids on bottles of sanatogen. There I am trying to get the lid off and along comes my six year old and says "there you are daddy" and it's off in a Jiffy. Someone's gonna get hurt.

    Original 50s (ie up til '61) ones are all-mahogany (although the top is still a separate piece I think), but all of them from '68 onwards have a maple cap - and almost all 50s humbucker Customs have three pickups. *If* this was genuine, it would be a '68-'69 - two pickups, maple top, no volute on the headstock, no 'Made In USA' on the back. But it is absolutely not genuine.

    Now it's showing as "listing ended by seller due to no longer being available". I hope that doesn't mean they've done a deal outside Ebay hence leaving the buyer with no protections and no possibility of leaving negative feedback… that would be a bit J Collingridge.

    I doubt it, though it's possible. The seller pulled the listing less than five minutes after I messaged her.

    I should actually be getting a real 69/70 LP custom  to do some work on in the next month or so.  Must remember to do detailed pics and measurements when it comes.   The aim will be to put it back stock, its been well used and refretted at least once but the owner isn't happy with the fretwork and is considering putting the original p-ups back in

    I have actually worked on more 50's & 60's gibsons than 70's, even the real 70's ones look wrong to my eyes
