Exactly this. If the ML-1 CAP10 or indeed the ML-3 came with big ass necks they'd be ideal for me, especially at secondhand prices. And who cares about the face behind it. I like the guitars, the upside down headstock is a bit love it/hate it and the ML-7S I saw had a horrid mismatched 2 piece body. Play one in person is my advice, or buy used.

totally agree, keep the comments to the guitars. Marmite he may be, but I don't detect the slightest nastiness in the guy.

I've thought about this before and I'm guessing it's a real PITA to ship without pickups since you can't test fret buzz, and a lot of other factors without installing pickups. So you'd have to install pickups, set it up and fix any mistakes, and then take the pickups out again. Not cost-effective at all regardless of how cheap the labour is.
