There's always the Davida, UK made & not cheap, but very high quality. Their boss David Fiddaman is a mad keen biker.

I know the Davida ones - well remember the ad too :)

Always thought they looked huuuuge, mushroom-style though.

Has anybody tried a NoCo Lithium battery on their bike and would you recommend one? The negative I suppose is you need a Lithium battery charger but I already have one of those. Or would I be better sticking with an AGM type battery. I think my AGM is on its last legs, which is a bit disappointing considering it's not that old and they should last a lot longer than lead-acid batteries.

Lowering my expectations has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams.

Guilty as charged. I'm terribly shallow...
In my defence, they were concho's not conch shells  ;)

Well since we're in confessional mode .. the previous owner (or one of them) saw fit to adorn the FXR with two of the damn things. Had to take a razor blade to the saddle before my kids - or anybody else for that matter - spotted them:

When my now college-age daughter saw them in a box in the garage she opined - Aw. cute dad. You shoulda got a pistol and a holster to go with them.

That's what I'd have to put up with :)

^ actual hills... non round here, we miss 'em. Awesome scenery.

Re lids I've got a Daytona open face, it's DOT only not the other UK/Euro thing. Pretty non-bulbous, the pics on the website (Fat Skeleton) are a bit deceptive I reckon but it is still low profile. Wind noise is a thing, earplugs needed.

I got fed up of messing with db killers/baffles and bought some Vance & Hines "quiet" baffles for far too much money for what they are. The size of 'em is massive vs your average db killer, the exhaust note is a bit quieter but a good lot lower & thumpier.
The bike had rejected the db killers out on the road somewhere anyway...
it also shed the number plate when the bracket part sheared off the rear light - just as well, I found a switched live bare wire waving around inside the light housing. Why people do stupid shit like this is beyond me.

I'm thinking about swapping my handlebars.
I'm not usually one to play about with modifications, but I noticed that my wrists get sore and also my thumbs when on longer rides. The handlebars on the Bonneville are quite straight which forces my elbows out but as I relax that puts a tension onto my wrist joint. I could do with them being slightly closer, and slightly angled backwards.

I've no idea where to look though. If this was a bicycle scenario, my local shop would assess my riding position and do some measurements, then swap the bars over to something that fits me properly. Does that service exist at motorcycle garages?

Bars are always a compromise - and can be hard to get them right.

This video is slightly better than what it first appears if you're looking for a few pointers.

As a very rough guide btw - I was once told that f you sit on the bike, close your eyes, and put your hands out to where you would like the grips to be, then that'll show you what bars you want.

I'll give that guy a choc-bikkie if he can work the front brake on that (without standing on the seat that is..)
