2016 Build a slide instrument challenge - Who is in?

The challenge is to:

1. Build some sort of slide instrument.

2. Keep the cost below £100. 

Three awards.

1. Best build.

2. Most entertaining build thread.

3. Best musical output.

A slide instrument  can be anything with strings from this:

So quite an open challenge, although I think you would struggle to do a pedal steel for under £100

The £100  will include a decided 2nd hand value for any parts draw additions.  I say this because I could build one for free.

Remember, its not a challenge to see who can build the most professional looking slide instrument... hack jobs and recycling old things  is just as valid.... even a one string diddley bow could win the musical challenge at the end.   

The build phase will run until the end of June, Musical challenge will be judge end of July

Perfect proof that you don't need to know much about setting up a guitar to enter this challenge.

Great idea for a challenge!

I built a CBG in the summer, it's a great fun (and relatively simple) way to get a unique instrument.

It's cheap too.

As mine is already assembled I can't enter this challenge. 

Here's mine anyway.

I think I'll be in, I've got just the idea but need to see if my woodwork is up to it first of all... Got two scrap parts that I could combine together for something interesting

I'd love to have a go at this but where would I get a cigar box. I'm guessing I'd have to buy some cigars?

Quite fancy this. I'm going to try and pickup a cheap japanese/eastern european thing and make a slide open tuning guitar out of it. Expect some incredibly dumb questions. Thinking built in fuzz maybe.

You can get boxes off ebay, plainer ones will be quite cheap

Also think about any wooden or metal box. Oil cans can be had cheap, and charity shops often have other styles of antique box....

Or you can be really cheap and just go the diddley bow route... A glass bottle or tin can
