I don't understand the desire for football matches to be decided by things that aren't football.

Penalties aren't really football, but neither is dribbling from 20 yards out or playing five a sides.

Golden goal, doing the shootout before extra time, messing with substitutions etc all just create weird incentives, that lead to teams just defending, because conceding is an even bigger risk. No offsides just leads to hoofball.

Just keep playing the game.

Good start by Northern Ireland. A real pity that NI have no anthem of their own (and please not The Londonderry Air, which would put everyone to sleep). Wales and Scotland have their anthems, why not NI?

Footballers hair 'styles' always amuse me. Bale for one and there are many more. And the colours on their boots years ago a manager said that a player wearing white boots had better be good! Same could be said of anyone wearing black boos these days. The quality of football in the match is pretty low. Lots of effort and physicality but little quality...

This game is dreadful. This new tournament format is dreadful for neutral supporter. Teams playing purely to keep their goal difference down in the groups and now games like this. Ugh.

Good work by bale down the left, own goal caused by a dangerous ball-feel for the lad. Think Kanu's scoring if he doesn't put it in himself.

Who would be. I'd take anything in Monday. Looking at your side if the draw Wales are in the best position anybody could envisage before the tournament. Cruel on NI, but like you said if he didn't try to clear it Wales would probably of scored anyway.
