This week the German courts concluded a 20 year legal plagiarism case and found against the original artist (Kraftwek) for a sample of approx 1.5 secs of drumming. There are legal implications for European legislation (including who hasn't sampled any James Brown drum parts but he is American and dead so to be fair that may not count) and so its open season. Watch this space and I am all for Brexit. But then again, if we get regular sized carrots in uniform shapes and potatoes as a result of EU membership, should we not get comprehensive access to any samples we want? I'm in!
