While we're all talking about regretting stuff...

What's Hot
...I kinda miss my band. Don't think I can do music without them...haven't picked up my guitar in weeks (maybe a month or so, actually), and generally just don't feel like it.

Bollocks.

  • I hear you mate. I've not composed anything for nearly a year now, and I'm not actually that bothered. And I used to religiosly force at least one new tune a month whether I wanted to or not.

    Bollocks indeed :(

Nah, man. I can't face doing that again. Nearly destroyed me last time, because the guy who starts it always ends up doing all the work.

Drummer's just piped up saying he could easily get us on the same management deal that his current band (my old-old band) have. Why, why, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

Yep, been there. It's really hard to motivate yourself when you're not in a band. Conversely, when you're in a band, even songs you don't usually like suddenly seems really interesting to learn.

Trick is to start looking again ;)

@digitalscream I feel ya, I've just started a band/project again, and first pracco was on Sunday ( with your old cab, sounded epic btw) and I am starting to get excited about music again, especially as we are not going to bother gigging, just record and write.
Maybe that's a route you could consider, it's like being in a band with all of the shit stuff removed......

Just do it. One day you'll be too old and your body won't be up to it. Right now it is all in your head. Just re-negotiate what you want from yourself and accept you might need to work at 60% of what you think you want, or whatever means your brain doesn't explode. It might hurt to start with but surely it is better than 0% and regret. Nobody made you push to better yourself other than yourself - you made and were in charge of the rules last time so make new ones.

Well, just for the record, the drummer took my "I don't know" and he's running with it. Seems pretty keen to reform. For all my foolishness, I'm actually considering it.

I'm also deeply, deeply ashamed about that fact :D

Is it the live you miss, or the collaboration or sommat else?

Nothing specific, just kind of all-of-the-above.

Regrets, I've had a few ............thousand.

I'm lucky I suppose, I stopped playing live a long while back; so no band issues.  I'm knocking on in years, so will some be 6 foot under, or in a jar.  More recently, I seem to be having memory issues, which helps me to forget the shit I've previously been through.

I haven't touched any musical instrument since the band split over two years ago now.  I have zero desire to play - which really bugs me.  I've got all the gear and no desire.  It just sits there, powered off, gathering dust.  Shit.... that reminds me, my PRS is still in the soft case.  Last time I left it in that, the fretboard went mouldy.

I'm the same, my band is on the way out and I've no interest in sitting and playing the guitar for enjoyment-I have never really have enjoyed just playing it for its own sake.

    I did when I was younger-under 21 I suppose.

Without a band to play music with it all becomes a little pointless for me, which pisses me off but what can you do? There's no point doing it because you think you should.

I won't be starting another band anytime soon either.

Just pick up the bloody thing and play it.
Or give it to me and I'll play it for you.

I really don't understand the 'I'm not in a band therefore I don't play' thing.

Are you the frontman for your band? My mate is the exact same, great guitarist, great frontman but pretty much no interest in playing guitar if it isn't in a band.
