It's a bit harsh describing those guitars as money for nothing, but it certainly sounds like a lot of money for not that much guitar. ;)

But sign me up for 2 of each, anyway.

Compared to what they're asking for some of their other top models those prices actually seem quite reasonable, so... why worry?

I've not paid much attention to these in the past, but when they do it, particularly on non solid colour guitars and particularly on 'Burst' reps where the afficionados recognise the grain pattern in the tops almost like fingerprints how do they do it ? Do they actually attempt to replicate the grain pattern or is it more the colour and the wear they shoot for ?

sorry mart it was just meant to be a play on words and not an offence hence ?????????????

I agree with @ICBM on the pricing - far better pricing than I expected taking into account post Brexit pricing with a weak £

I kinda realised that and was kinda running with the joke.

But actually, my first reading of the thread title was that this was a copy of "the" Money for Nothing guitar. When I think of Knopfler I think primarily of a strat, not a Les Paul, so Money for Nothing is the most famous example of him playing a Les Paul, I'd guess.

I could have just said MK Signature LP etc, but just felt the 'money for nothing' was a bit tongue in cheek - after all he felt that when he wrote the song about a huge store in the USA

Brothers in arms is his big les Paul moment surely?

I don't know, to me, one Les Paul looks very much like another.

Same could easily be said about strats of course, but then as we all know its the tone, weight, resonance. playing dynamics etc that can be so very different.

Like Knopflers playing its all about phrasing, timing and delivery.
