I had a playlist on this morning and this track came up, slight shivers down the spine in light of recent events:

    Until the philosophy
Which hold one race superior and another
    Inferior
    Is finally
    And permanently
    Discredited
    And abandoned
    Everywhere is war
    Me say war

    That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the color of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the color of his eyes
    Me say war

That until the basic human rights
    Are equally guaranteed to all
    Without regard to race
    Dis a war

    That until that day
    The dream of lasting peace,
    World citizenship
    Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
    But never attained
    Now everywhere is war
    War

    The Smiths

Currently working from home so now have 8-9 hours a day to listen to music . Thought I'd revisit some of the music I used to listen to in my youth. Was always a fan of the Smiths but as I never had the money to buy full albums back in the day I never really got to hear the albums in full more than a couple of times. Having now listened to the full back catalogue a couple of times I realized I've not really missed out  =) They've written some great tunes but there's not much to recommend outside of the Greatest Hits compilations.

Following Steve Priests death, I've been listening to pretty much every thing by The Sweet. Not to mention playing Wig Wam Bam, Hellraiser and Burning 2 or 3 times a day. Started practising Sweet FA a couple of days ago.

Peter Green, haven't listened to him for quiet a long time and is always a joy to listen to his playing again.

    The Chills Snow Bound

Martin Phillipps is one of the great unsung songwriters of the last 30 or 40 years.  He's lost far too much time to addiction, but the current iteration of The Chills he's put together are really making up for lost time.  This one and Silver Bullets are proper genius.

Tom Robinson Band - Power in the Darkness.

Still a brilliant slice of energetic, angry rock although perhaps sad that so much of it lyrically still seems relevant 42 years on ( well, maybe not having a Cortina). Danny Kustow on guitar is magnificent, a much under rated player ( although I seem to remember he did relatively little after TRB due to illness?).

This, I've been listening to this. LOTS.  It's got tingy bells and I love those... esp. with a great bass line...

  • I'm seriously loving the new Protest The Hero LP and it's been on repeat all week... these boys can do no wrong imo.

They've just come back from a five-year break, after their vocalist blew his voice and needed to re-train to get it back. One listen to From The Sky and you'll see it's no surprise with such an intense vocal performance.

Davey Graham- Folk, Blues and Beyond
Bert Jansch- debut and the Bert and John duet album
    Manics- Everything Must Go
    The Cult- Sonic Temple.

I just have Absolute 70's on most days now.

It's funny but I never tire of it. Even Abba.

Surely there has to be a point where it stops being worthwhile? (Speaking as someone with Spirit Of The Age tattooed around my wrist).
