To be fair, it wouldn't be such a bad thing if the US were taken down a rung or two on the international ladder.  They've played world police for far too long.  Personally, I'd be happy to see America's influence on the planet diminished.  There are more countries and other ideologies than just 'What Uncle Sam says, goes'.

I think so too. Protectionism makes everyone poorer in the long term - the US should understand that better than almost anyone, given they tried it in the 1920s and it was one of the main causes of the Great Depression.

However, given that they've consistently refused to learn the lessons of Prohibition when applied to the 'war on drugs'…

Come to think of it, what is Trump's position on drugs? I don't remember having heard anything.

As a businessman you would think that he understands the concept of supply and demand, and why prohibition doesn't (and will not ever) work… but I don't think I've heard what he plans to do.

The abortion issue is far more complex, and given the amount of pro life US taxpayers, using their money on something as contentious is well dodgy to say the least. Trump has not threatened self funded abortion or access to contraception.

This Sean Spicer seems to be one to watch... Trumpty Dumpty's town crier.  So far, he's told the world that his master had the largest audience in history for an inauguration (despite all the evidence pointing to the opposite, and refused to take any questions), and today he's announced the Trumpmaster is ordering an investigation into voter fraud, claiming some five million illegal votes were cast for Hillary "based on studies and evidence that people have presented to him" - but despite being repeatedly pressed to produce or even specify what evidence he was referring to, failed to present anything whatsoever.

There seems to be a common theme developing here...  !
