But no arguments with the rest of @Bridgehouse's list, although I do feel that novelty songs like Agadoo, Barbie Girl etc are kind of soft targets in this context, they were never meant to be "good".  Irritating = catchy, in a way.

I do agree that he has made some spectacularly dreadful songs.  I saw him live once... wish I'd taken a book to read.

Fair enough, although I didn't think any of those things - I liked the key-change for the middle 8 and its resolution back to the original key, and thought it had a good hook.

I really hate it too. I'd add nauseatingly trite to its list of faults.

Good to see Bruno Mars getting more than one mention. I thought I was almost alone in detesting the smug twat and anything he's ever done.
