I thought you folks might be interested in knowing a bit about me, "Antipesto"
I've messed with guitar for 30+ years, and developed the technique of playing the same trash year after year. It was pretty bad! Prior to that, I'd been a drummer in back-street bands in Wawickshire, which were about as good as a bunch of clueless youth can be, (not good at all).
In my work as a photographer, I one day had a call from an ex pro guitarist who wanted some promo shots taken. He was fairly local, and set up a one man show in a local hall for me to take the pictures.
So impressed by his talent and experience, I asked him, "would you teach me?" He agreed, much to my surprise.....
That was two years ago.... I've practised his tortuous lessons everyday since then, learnt to sing, and played about 8 open mic nights and one "real" gig. I'm 59 years old. I'm reborn.
That's it, really. Thank you for reading!

Hi, I'm Matt. Just joined, although I've been a long time user of other guitar places on the internet. I've been playing for about 30 years, although I've not played regularly in a band since I was in my early 20s.
Musically, I started as a rock/metal guy, and then went hard into jazz and soul in my late teens, and these days I dabble in absolutely everything: classical, jazz, swing, rock, fusion, RnB, etc.
Q1: Where did you username come from?
It's based on my first name and part of my surname.
Q2: Where in the world/country are you?
London, but I'm from central Scotland originally.
Q3: What's your main musical ambition?
To be able to sit in on a jazz session without looking like a total idiot. Being able to record music on my own that I like. Continuing to improve.
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
Probably Yamaha THR10. I have owned much better amps before, and not every model on it convinces me, but the form factor and the fact it's always plugged in in the living room, ready to play, has completely transformed how I practice, and how often I practice. I've gone from always practicing unplugged, and mostly noodling or doing boring 'practice' to always practicing plugged in, and doing a lot more with backing tracks/looping/music.

I've just finished building a DIY tele kit and I'm liking the look of the making/modding challenge for 2018, so I've signed up to have a go at that. I'm pretty bad at starting things, so that might never happen. Anyhoo:
