Look forward to hearing what you think
The TPS video caught my ears, as it made the TS sound like a back of dicks in comparison (imho, just my opinion etc etc) and I'm currently using a SD-1 (let's call that very TS-type) to boost a Guv'nor and liking it, but the SD-1 one alone on the setting that works as a boost, is a bit meh.
Anyway, just wondering aloud...
I'm tempted by the mini Nordland without the middle control but I'll likely just pick up an ODR 1BC when finances allow.
From what I can remember- I've had mine off my board for a while. The ODR is pretty nice and very versatile, but like a lot of dirt pedals like that, if there's something specific you want it to do, a pedal which does that specific thing, even if it's not as versatile, is usually better...
Also IIRC it sounded a bit grainy for my tastes for a boost... I think it was better as a standalone overdrive.
As I say, I don’t get along with extreme mid-type
boosts so I know I could use the ODR-1 to good effect as a boost - smooth and fat even with some slightly exaggerated mids.
I like Elmo because he doesn't do slick demos he just buys kit and is very honest about it.
He seemed to quite like it.
Initial impression is it sounds quite scooped, mostly in a nice way, sometimes in a sort of weird way. The spectrum control is an odd thing to get your head around, I didn't find any use for it below noon (will keep experimenting) but has a bit of magic around 1 o'clock on the dial, just a bit of a push in some nice frequencies.
Easily a 'mid gain' pedal, really nice and natural compression. I thought the bass cut was well judged and with it engaged it was a much better experience when winding up the gain.
The shock came when comparing it to my Timmy. At first I thought the Timmy had loads less gain but remembered (as I always do, eventually) that the bass control is pre gain so letting a similar amount of bass through to the ODR-1 (Timmy bass control at 9 o'clock) showed they were pretty much evens stevens in that regard. Timmy could cop almost any of the ODR-1 tones with the spectrum knob in its middle 3rd of range and bass cut off, the feel was a bit more gutsy and visceral, with less compression and no fizziness at all. Timmy couldn't keep up with the BC on and gain wound up/spectrum pushed however!
Interested in others' thoughts too please!
After much consideration I just got a Nordland ODR-C which has extra knobs for mids, bass cut and compression cut. So far it looks like the pedal that addresses all of the ODR-1 shortcomings and then some. Really versatile pedal.

My settings are almost identical to your, only I used a bit less low cut (9:00 o'clock) and a bit more O.D.C. (12:00 o'clock)... still have to tinker with this though.
