  • Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell Bridge, like a thicker JB, mainly used for rock/metal riffing.

Seymour Duncan Slash Neck, I mainly use that for a cleaner/edge of breakup tone rather than soloing though.

Best sounding bridge pickup I have is the stock Burstbucker 2 in my 70s tribute SG. Best neck pickup is an old Duncan 59 I bought second hand years ago, simply stunning in any guitar I stick it in.

BK mules are pretty good too.

I had one like that. It went in my last PRS though, so I don't have it any more. (Or any humbucker guitars.)

Heads Up for the manufacturer's originals: In my Gibson LP, and 335, Hofner archtop and Yamaha SG2k are all standard HB PUPS and every one sounds different. I think I have a sound for all occasions enough already rather than swapping units in and out continually... use a pedal!

My favourite humbuckers are SD alnico II pros in my Explorer. Mainly because they're the pickups I actually have. I like them a lot more than the pickups I don't have, because they're no use to me at all when it comes time to play that guitar.

I always loved the stock mini HBs in my '81 Les Paul Deluxe
And you know what else? Those safety lids on bottles of sanatogen. There I am trying to get the lid off and along comes my six year old and says "there you are daddy" and it's off in a Jiffy. Someone's gonna get hurt.

My favourite pickups of all time are:
    Real PAFs
    BK Crawler

I only play clean or cleanish. At this moment I cannot say which of these 2 are my favourite pickup of all time.

Suhr Aldrich - both bridge and Neck sound great, very versatile, best coil tap i've ever had.

The bridge sounds like a JB with a bit of the harshness rounded off and a tighter low end - perfect.

I realise that it's not a common choice, but I'm really enjoying the Little '59 I've got in the bridge of my JR Tele right now. Exactly the right mix of...well, everything really.

Got one in the neck position too, and I love this guitar even more than I did before now.

If it has to be a "proper" PAF kind of thing, then probably the Bonamassa set I had. They're what I'd imagine an old set to sound like anyway. Chimey and clear, tele-ish in the middle and focused when distorted.

But I'd say my favourite humbucking pickup is probably tied between my Oil City Brassknuckle and some TV-Jones Classics. The LP Deluxe style Mini-humbuckers aren't far off though, and I'd love to try some real Firebird style mini-hums.
