@Lexie1: glad to see Laurie Wisefield's name in this list, he's a superb player.

Top three for me must be:
    1. Robben Ford
    2. Peter Frampton
    3. John Scofield

Until now. I like him almost as much as I like Santana. Or Guthrie.

1 Mark Knopfler. I only have to hear the first 2 notes and I am in awe of the guy. Tone is really important. Or do I mean "feel".
    2. Clapton with Cream. Since then.....not so much.
    3. Third choice changes a bit but today I am going to say Robben Ford. I really like his attitude. His last album but one was played (all of it)  on the neck pickup of a '63 Epiphone Riviera. I love that. Pick a sound that you love and allow that sound to dominate the whole album. Fabulous.

    2 Allan Holdsworth

    3 David Torn

All 3 push the boundaries and never settle for "good enough" , what its all about I think

Interesting choice, Paul Weller. His playing with The Jam is soooooo underrated, it's unreal

    Lifeson is brill. Very versatile.

Mike Sullivan is one of my favourite players for heavy stuff. For punk: ian MacKaye and guy picciotto from fugazi.

That's nothing - Wilko has made an entire career using only one pick-up!

    Hmm tricky one so many!!!

    1) Allan Holdsworth- His chordal work and his improvisational skills. I never tire of listening to him. Constantly evolving. I've met him four times after gigs and he is the sweetest guy. Real example of humility.
    2) Robben Ford, my kind of blues guitarist
    3) Wayne Krantz - my kind of jazz/funk guitarist

Was really tempted to include GG, as he can play pretty much anything. It's odd though, sometimes he'll play something which will make the hairs on my arm stand on end. On other occasions though, his playing leaves me a bit cold.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

It's for his playing during The Jam years I picked him ;)
I'm surprised nobody seems to have yet mentioned Pete Townshend

    Tricky...today it would be.

    Neil Young - a legend
    Jonny Greenwood - unique
Dan Auerbach - probably my favourite over the last few years.

Just missing out would be Richard Hawley, Weller, early Clapton & Green.
