Something got me thinking about old beers and alcoholic drinks that are no longer with us

so just for starters - Baby Sham - Worthing E - Double Diamond and can you remember the old add 'Whitbread Big Head Trophy Bitter the pint that thinks its a quart' ?

And what was the beer in a 'party can' (might have been a smaller can as well) that had a 'fizz' thing in it to make it more like a pint - extra bubbles or something like that

John smiths had a “widget” in the can to add fizz...

20/20 is still around, as is Thunderbird which was my cheap loosener of choice when I was in Uni in the late 80s.
Some folks like water, some folks like wine.

both as it happens - it is the 'widget' I was thinking about - is it still with us

And I'd forgotten about 'Party Seven'

Does look like BabyCham is still with us - Not seen light nor day of it for so long

Forgot about party seven!... here’s a question, did john Smiths use “widget” before Apple started to? Wonder how many millennials realise their apps were named by drunks!!!!!

Thunderbird wine was lethal - tasted horrible - but okay at a barbie if you've already had a skinful

Around the time my little brother was born, my parents and grandparents would sometimes play cards and have a can of Party Seven on Saturday night. I remember them using a tin opener to get into it and the stuff going everywhere.

Babychamis still around (sparkling perry), only called something else and marketed as halfway between cider and prosecco.

The GnR song Nighttrain was about some cheap American drink and IIRC about 25 years ago, Kerrang or Raw said it was like Thunderbird. In my ignorance,  I tried a room temperature bottle.  Ewww!

Lately I 've noticed small bottles of Cherry B in kids playgrounds. Somebody at work told me they sell it in Iceland and the kids drink it.

Did anyone ever win a bottle of Pomagne at the school summer fair and drink it on the way home?  That wouldn't happen now.

Thunderbird was dead cheap and took just enough time to drink when walking from the offy to the pub when my mates and I were at college.  An aperitif if you will...

Taste was never a parameter I recognised over price. I can't remember what the difference between red and blue was, I think one was stronger.
