Just picked up a PRS SE Zach Myers, should definitely be on the list of top 10 signature models.
My other passion is firearms! Does that make me a closet Redneck???

  • Both niche but how about the Brian May Red Special plus the Fender YJM Strat (in production since the mid 80s IIRC)?

The Johnny Marr Jaguar is a great guitar, very usable modifications.

Yes, nice guitar, but I don't get on with Jags...

Surely Gretsch's Brian Setzer models should be on the list.

Nah, it's not exactly 'the best', good but wouldn't be on my radar.

Too specialist, both super distinctive to the artist and so not ones I would have chosen.

I've had on loan recently an EBMM Albert Lee (HH) and it was fantastic.

I also like and rate the Duesenberg Mike Campbell Starplayer

The Clapton Strat's been in production for a long time and the electronics make it more than just another run-of-the-mill Strat.

And surely the Jem should be in there.  Maybe even the JS models.

A nice broken in PRS DGT with hollow birds :)

  • I'm very surprised the Clapton strat (the regular production model) isn't on Thomann's best-selling list, when the Morello strat is... Times change, I guess! Not taking anything away from Morello (I love him) and he's not exactly a spring chicken either, but still.

So yeah, the Clapton strat would definitely be on my list, probably one of the longest-running sig models? And there must be hundreds of thousands out there.

Would also put the PRS Santana in there, another very long-standing artist/manufacturer association. It also basically launched the SE line for PRS, which is a pretty important milestone.

Yeah, I noticed after I wrote the comment.  But I don't really understand why they're not in the top 10 over some of the others you did include.

Just thinking about the signature models I've owned... Jimmie Vaughan Strat, Robert Cray Strat, Pete Townshend SG Special, Billy Sheehan Attitude Limited bass and Lee Roy Parnell CS-336.  None on your list.

The top Thomann ones are certainly guitars I wouldn't have guessed and I agree on Clapton. And the Santana is great, just I prefer the DGT and the Clapton I mentioned at the end of the article.

Well, the first 5 are based on Thomann sales and last 5 are ones I either own or rate highly. So without the Thomann models, I probably would have had a JEM and a Clapton in the list.
