'Mortal Kombat.' The recent one.
Just. Don't.

There is another film which GoW borrows from very heavily indeed - it was a film I thoroughly enjoyed and I can't tell you what it is or you'd guess the ending!
If you and @Philly_Q watch it, see if you can guess the film I'm thinking of.
The main enjoyment was a rare trip to cinema. The film was ok, although strange to think someone would choose to romanticise their life in this way.

@Offset I'm not sure I do know the film you're thinking of, although there are elements which made me think of many other films.

I had seen it before, the combination of my cold and knowing what happens seemed to make it even more miserable. Some of what happens seems quite contrived and so I don’t always know what is biographical detail and what’s just a plot contrivance (my brother is on that ship: massive coincidence or for dramatic effect?). But it’s a well paced bit of drama.
It's also noticeable how many films are being made at the moment about films, or the film making process. Cinema is eating itself.

Still a good film though.

Netflix
Stephen King story, apparently includes various references to other bits of his work although mostly passes me by.
John Cusack is Edgar Allen Poe in a mid 1800s grizzly murder mystery. A cat and mouse game begins as a killer starts offing people using Poe's stories as inspiration for his bloody murders.
Apart from the beginning when it seemed Cusack was massively overacting the part it was really good.

Bit of trading feedback here.
Unique.

Exquisite. Flawless. Straight into my top 5. Nicholas Cage as Nick Cage, in probably the most Nicolas Cage film of all time.

On Prime if anyone interested.
Does anyone else immediately think of Roy Kinnear when they see Rory Kinnear? It's automatic for me now ... doesn't matter if it's a Bond movie or a comedy or an interview ... I always think of Rory's dad
