Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.

TV Yellow's a winner for me

I generally hate the color yellow on anything, except TV Yellow Juniors like that. I don't own any yellow clothing, and nothing in my personal space is yellow. A lot of Asian companies have tried to reproduce the correct shade of TV Yellow on their repro Juniors, and they never get it right. Harley Benton's TV Junior is a puke mustard color. It's hideous. My Les Paul Special 2019 is modern TV Yellow and that's not even correct. The color should be closer to a beige tone than yellow. It's a great guitar, so I put up with it.

At the moment I'm looking for:
    * Hamer Watson, SS2, Vintage S, T62.
    * Music Man Luke 1, Luke II

    Please drop me a message.

I would argue that yellow is one of the most popular colours for guitars.

You certainly see a lot more Blonde and TV Yellow guitars than you do Orange, Green or Purple guitars for example.

I quite like a lot of these more subtle yellows - the ones that are more sort of mustard, gold and blonde.

My problem with yellow - and I mean bright yellow - is it's a sort "look at me, I'm fun" colour, i.e. all a bit too Timmy Mallet and Mr Blobby  ;)

I used to have a yellow ibanez rg550 that id got stainless frets installed on and pink Dimarzios. It was hideous but that was kinda the point.
I sold it and I can't remember why. Probably decided it didn't sound nice, but never bothered to change amp settings  =)

So the yellows that aren't actually yellow then ;)

I am fun so that's probably why I like them

I'd rather have an SG in TV yellow than most of the more popular colours, including cherry.

I wouldn't want too garish a shade, though.

I'd happily have yellow, but never red.

I like the colour yellow.  In fact it's possibly my favourite colour, I think of it as happy (like Mr Happy or the classic Smiley, I guess).  I don't have yellow clothes, but I have black socks with a brightly-coloured bit at the toe and heel.  I have a semi-superstition that I'll only wear the yellow ones if I think it's going to be a good day.

As for guitars, I haven't actually got any yellow guitars apart from a TV Yellow LP Special.  That DC Junior above does look very nice but I personally prefer Cherry for that model (and I've got a TV White one).

I really like TV Yellow on SGs, but you don't see it very often.

  • Old Teles are all basically yellow.

And by similar logic, aren't most properly-coloured acoustics basically yellow too?
