1Q22 Challenge Downbytheriver 335 style from a kit with stains

Unclamped and two strings fitted for checks - everything seems pretty much in line…

All seems well, tension removed, start work on the electrics and string up in a day or two…
(waiting for a reamer to arrive as the holes are drilled for mini pots)

Electrics in, strung… 

it works! Except the socket is a bit… not right, intermittent, you know… denial denial. Yup it’s going to have to come out! 

Left to do. 

The nut is higher than I would set it even for slide - much work required. 

Truss rod cover coming. 

Pickguard… options exist but it will definitely have one. 

Knobs - I have the gold ones that came with the kit - there might be a better option. 

Strap buttons to fit. 

A bit of a review of the kit…

To be honest, using aquarium tubing, it was dead easy! I was most surprised. 

Have I mentioned the loom came from Mojo? Lovely piece of kit.

Very nice. I've ordered a pre soldered 3 way from alegree, but have the rest of the components I need for my wiring so I'll be ham-fistedly doing a bad solder job

That colour is really cool. It'll make a great guitar once you've finished.

Get some 6mm aquarium tubing, thread it through the holes, push it over the top of the pot and pull! I did all 4 pots at once with tubing, piece of wire for the socket and a finger to push the switch into place. I’m sure there are YouTube videos about this!

Well, obviously, the knobs that came with the kit don’t fit the CTS pots in the loom. SO… looking for knobs. I’d like chrome ones I think (seems to be the theme) - anybody have any ideas? 

Scratchplate - I think I’ll make a wooden one - this has the option to be a template for an engraved aluminium one later. 

Otherwise, once the nut is done, we’re pretty much there. It’ll need a case I guess.

I've said it before, but I really like that colour - we need more guitars that aren't the obvious sunburst, red or black.
(Although I am guilty of owning a black bass...)
