    Wotcha

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

We had a dartboard in the office when I started work about 400 years ago. My surname is Wilson, so I was nicknamed Jocky after the legendary Scottish athlete. My Dutch boss pronounced it Yocky for some reason, so that stuck.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    Deepest Peckham, SE London

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

Someone asked me that last weekend when I said I played guitar, stumped me tbh. I'd never really thought about it. I just keep ploughing away because it makes me happier than just about anything else I could be spending my time doing.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Gonna say my Larrivee D-01. It's not the greatest guitar in the world but I'd be heartbroken if anything happened to it.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Pfft, depends on the hour. Let's go with Teenage Riot by Sonic Youth

What a great forum this is btw. At a time when it could be easy to conclude that 75% of humanity is beyond the pale, to come here and find that only 20% are complete bellends - well I like those odds :)

    Hi

Long time lurker... thought it time I get involved given there isn't really all that much to do these days!

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

    Bing - a nickname I've had since I was a kid

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    London

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

When first picked up a guitar aged 12 it was to be Noel Gallagher. Now in my thirties, I just want to play nice guitars, in the comfort of my own home... and not so loudly I wake up my wife and child. I wouldn't mind doing some open mic nights again though

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Yesterday it was my Collings CJ35... today it's my Collings 0002h... tomorrow it'll probably be my National... or something else entirely. Gotta show them all some love. But that wasn't really the question was it! If the house was burning down I guess it'd be the 0002h. The national is too heavy to run with (and it'd probably survive a fire to be fair)

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

yikes... the impossible question. Even harder than the last. I've been Digging Shuggie Otis 'sweet thang' a lot recently...

  • Q1:  Where did you username come from?

Pretty simple, I play the guitar in SV... Sredni Vashtar. Real name is out there if you look hard enough, but music is not my profession so happy to keep things (slightly) anonymous.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    South London

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

To  co-write and record a  handful of songs that endure in some way, even if it's only me that listens to them again and again.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Probably  the 88' Fender Jazzmaster I got  as a teenager and still pick up almost every day, 35 years later.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Today, I would say it's A Strange Day, by the Cure.

Hello all you four, five, six & seven stringers

I’m a bassist really but I’ve also got a couple of strats & a tele which I noodle on.  Over the last year or two I’ve been learning songs on the guitar from my youth … Stranglers, Nirvana and more recent bands like Feeder and Hard Fi etc and now I’ve got to learn to play the blues!

Q1:  My user name TCB comes from Elvis’ backing band, Taking Care of Business.

Q2:  I live in the West Midlands, just south of Coventry.

Q3:  My main musical ambition is to get out there and play more gigs, currently on bass but eventually also on guitar!

Q4:  My "best" bit of guitar gear is my yellow Fender strat.

Q5:  My #1 track ever is ‘Hanging Around’ by the Stranglers.

    TCB

    Greetings all;
New to all this, so not much to share instrument or career-wise am afraid. Due apologies.

Q1:  Given the forum's focus, that's probably the hardest to answer; i will retain the built up suspense if i may, keep you all guessing for a while longer?

    * Climax purchases separate, read terms and instructions.

Q2:  Athens, Greece. It's hot, unorganised, a touch backwards and overall not a sane person's first choice, but it's home nonetheless. Or so i've been telling myself ever since returning from London. Have yet to convince me, lol

Q3:  To learn. Same as always

Q4:  Am only getting started, am actually about to to be more precise, so.. on a broader level but still audio related, My Stax headphone collection i'd think. Love them to bits.

Q5: Tough. Not even sure how i'd go about defining #1 to be honest.. if we go by times listened to? Definitely something from Pink Floyd/David Gilmour. Still tough.
