Also: anyone else confused about the safety car procedure? Lando was leading and had not pitted yet so why did Max allow himself to be ‘picked up’ by the safety car?

Anyone else think Carlos will get a penalty for his 'move' on Oscar. The telemetry should be interesting.

Meh, clumsy maybe but not the end of the world.

I’m mostly pleased that a certain young man won… that wasn’t Max. 

That was a great drive. Car updates and SC luck or whatever aside that was a really good drive. He deserved to win.

Fantastic! Miles better than expected and brilliant for Lando & McLaren. I doubt they can take a real fight to Max over the season but at least the upgrades are working which should make for some good races. And Ferrari have a new package at Imola I think?

Max blaming a damaged floor for not having pace to keep up with Lando. At least he was gracious in defeat. Actually it was great to see all the drivers going over to Lando to congratulate him after the race.

He had 5 seconds added to his race time in the end.

It's great to see McLaren winning after so long in the doldrums. Shame Williams isn't up there with them. They were so dominant.

I'd rather they ceased to be called Williams. The Williams family have left the organisation and all it serves to do is to dilute the legacy of the team.

Yes - I’m not sure there are many drivers who’d get that sort of universal genuine delight from the rest of the field.

But seriously - the safety car procedure - how is it not a story - if it hadn’t picked up 2nd placed Max then Lando would not have come out of his stop in 1st…

I think he was just far enough in front to keep 1st, but either way it's ridiculous that the FIA get this stuff wrong
