I'm looking forward to getting the gold on.

These are inkjet decals, so the black won't be fully solid.  I'm hoping the gold softens the black a little

I will get back to it soon, but nothing ever happens quickly around here

I've done a test fit at this stage as it will soon be ready for buffing

Should be under 7 1/2lb once all finished.... not bad for a big guitar!

strung up properly now. It will all need to come apart again for some subtle ageing, but I wanted to do a proper test fit of everything before I get to that as I've never done anything in this style before

I will make a rubber bridge for it, but also want to give a solid option too.  I don't like the space control bridge with the increased intonation angle necessary on a baritone, it looks like the edges of the wheels are contacting the string either side of the break point.

That's looking incredible Wez.  What did you tune it to?

It's currently in B-standard with a set of 12-62 Mammoth Slinky's, which are doing a good job of reminding me why I don't like Ernie Ball strings

I've never been a fan of EB's either.  I used to sell them in the 70's and only used them a couple of times.

That looks great, the larger body size is subtle but keeps the neck in scale. Very nicely done.

    Armrest, yes or no?

This was the question I was contemplating at 3 o clock in the morning whilst trying to sleep after being up for 21 hours straight.

I think it might be worth getting one to see how it looks

It would be a no from me.  I was never a fan of all the "extras" on some Gretsches

Well I was curious enough to order a pair of banjo armrests from ali express, but i wont mount one without checking

No worries Wez.  Sorry that you ordered them!

To be honest I was just curious if the banjo ones would fit.  It's apparently what Gretsch used anyway, and the cost pennies compare to an official Gretsch part.

    They won't be wasted

Now lightly aged to match the original hardware.

That's looking great Wez.  It doesn't look like a baritone in the photos.  You've got the scale of the body just right to offset the longer neck.
