I’ve yet to meet this often referenced younger breed of gigging, guitar music based musicians who has zero interest in Gibson guitars. Playing a squire in a bar band doesn’t exclude one from interest in Gibson.
I've met a fair few of them due to playing plenty of gigs in Yorkshire in the punk/alt scene.

They all seem to be into ESP/Fender offsets/Teles/Schecter.

A lot of them even playing heavier music gravitated towards Fender shapes.

I can also attest to this, if my anecdotal evidence counts for anything.
In my band, we play metal in drop A. I play a Fender tele and forego the high E string, other guitar is a 7 string PRS.
In my local scene in newcastle, most metal bands I've seen have either another brand's take on the LP/SG/Gibson shape or something like an RG or Tele styled guitar.
Some subgenres do seem to prefer the LP or SG though - stoner rock and GnR-alikes are always gonna want that. Another example, I recently bought a really cool looking satin black epi LP, which I fully intend to use in my other band, and we play stoner doom.
