I've just got a couple of old Japanese made semi's

    1. Believe to be an early Navigator 335 made by Kasuga Guitars in Japan in the late 70's or early 80's. Fitted with 70' Bill Lawrence L90 rack pickups which are quite hot. This is my number #1. Biggest surprise I had was how different in colour it was from the sales post photo (photo 1) to what I received. I was very happy.

    2. An early 70's made Greco (Gneco) 330/335. Ebony board. Beautiful top. All original.

I imported both of these beauties from Japan myself as I have a love of these old Japanese guitars.

I'm going to lower the tone by posting pics of the semi-acoustics I currently have in the house and play the most, and I make no apologies for slumming it.  Nothing fancy, old, old-looking, collectible or expensive here, and mostly budget / affordable guitars (except maybe the Ibanez that's more "intermediate" price), but they are all very nice guitars that have been modified in one way or another for great playability and they all have quite different characters and sounds from each other.  I have a couple of others currently being used by other people, but they are pretty much the same as a couple in the photos. I've just used the stock images because I don't have personal photos of all the guitars or them all sitting on a couch or on a rack.

    Ibanez Artcore AS73G-NT-12-03 (discontinued 2017)
Squier Affinity Starcaster - Candy Apple Red
Vintage V72 Reissued - Flame Tobacco Burst

    That’s seriously lovely.

That Black Rick is awesome. How old is it? The inlays that go right across are great.
Thanks, I just need a decent camera and moody lighting to do it justice now.
And maybe I should give it a clean every now and then 3

Semi acoustics are just such attractive guitars. Nice to see a Starcaster too @BillDL !

And also I am happy to take any excuse to post this again, my 2009 Yamaha SA2200. Bought entirely because it looks so pretty, but luckily it sounds good too!

Yeah, the Affinity Starcaster was an impulse purchase from a fine chap on here, as was the Vintage Thinline.  The Starcaster has a very unique feel and sound even though it doesn't have the wide-range pickups of the "proper" Starcaster, but I prefer the master vol/tone layout on this cheaper version and I loved the "Mazda" colour.

I absolutely love Yamaha SA guitars, and yours is a beautiful looking example.

Oh my, that is amazing. Is that an original finish they offered? I’ve never seen anything like it.

I cheated and used a guitar which is actually a hollow body as one of mine. Tbf I forgot it wasn’t a semi but I’ve just stuck a phone torch in it to check and the other hole lights up…
Depends if by "semi" we're meaning "semi-acoustic" or "semi-hollow". If the latter then my L5 copy doesn't belong here at all.

@ICBM will probably tell us the answer as he’s basically the fretboard equivalent of an Encyclopaedia.
