New watch

What's Hot
holnrewholnrew Frets: 8207
Not as impressive as most people's WAS, but my first automatic. About £40, plenty good enough for day to day.

Nice. I like that there's not too much going on, like some watch faces, but just enough to keep it interesting. Well done!

Might replace the strap at some point. Surprised at how heavy it is

Nice.  I also have a Seiko 5 automatic, which I bought with my 25th birthday money.  Its been keeping pretty damn good time for the past 5 years.  £40 for yours... you really can't go wrong.

A seiko is pretty much the only auto worth the money at £40.

    Excellent buy :)

Seiko 5s are great. I bought one a few months ago and it gains 3-4 seconds a day consistently. Can you imagine a Rolex that costs 25x more being any better?

Yeah I'm pretty pleased, and winding it up whenever I have a wank is a bonus.

Now I can start planning for my expensive graduation watch I'll be buying myself.

Lol at the first sentence (hopefully it get's more than two full winds in the process ;) ), wisdom for the latter.  Foolishly, I almost splashed out on an Omega Seamaster with my student loan money. Thankfully I thought better of it.  Similar to you, said watch will be my treat when I graduate/get a good job. Any ideas what you'll be getting?

Not really. Something interesting, I'm not too keen on the traditional divers kind of watch. Possibly a skeleton.

I do like a good Seiko. Got three or four knocking round somewhere. Great VFM. The Fossil the Mrs bought for me stocking (Jesus, I know) last Xmas ain't too shabby surprisingly, and the TW Steel is rather good too, tho a bit huge.  I figure if it's guitar money/over guitar money cost wise, I'll buy a guitar. Bassist has a Seamaster and a Porsche. I can't help feeling they're high end guitars lost   :(

I always end up scratching them to fck anyhoo. Clumsy.

I like that, your choice is approved.

Less is more imo with watches, I dislike those ones with all the mini dials, and moon charts, and calendars etc. Though I am rather partial to a rotating bezel.

I find the rotating bezel really useful when cooking. Pasta pack says 11 minutes - click-click-click...

That's a really nice watch, I'm looking at getting my first automatic for Christmas (from my wife/me) and one like that is now high up the list :-)

Since owning a mobile phone (for 16 years) I have always felt that wearing a time piece is completely unnecessary.

Seems the old wrist watch is still as popular as ever though?
